This year, I have 24 fourth grade students. They are all from low socioeconomic backgrounds. They are also from diverse cultural backgrounds... Mexico, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Michigan to name a few. My students are enthusiastic and have very supportive parents who value education. Many parents are immigrants and are not literate in the English language. Some parents are not literate in any language. My students like to participate in hands-on activities and they like to move around. I am continually trying to improve my teaching methods so that I can meet the needs of all of the learners in my classroom. I love my job and I love that there are so many people willing to support teachers!
