My students come from low income homes where structure is necessary for success. Our school prides itself on developing students who are conscious and capable citizens of their community. In my classroom students are 21st century learners who are engaged in interdisciplinary units chock full of technology and applications to the real world. Today's seconds graders need relevant experiences in order to prepare to become tomorrow's leaders. Our students are eager and capable to rise above their boundaries, however, at my school we know that it is our job to teach them the skills they will need and instill the potential that they have to better their community and themselves despite socio-economical disparities.Second grade is an exciting year, but it is also filled with pressure due to the expectation that or many kids, 2nd grade marks the beginning of being one of the "big kids" in the school.
