Teaching in an urban elementary school has its challenges. Many of my students parents work two jobs or swing shift, some are unemployed, and many are learning English themselves. Most of the students qualify for free lunch. These life challenges can contribute to academic challenges of the students. Though they face these challenges, my students come to school every day prepared to learn. Many are lacking supplies, but they fill that hole with enthusiasm.
