The students in my Kindergarten class overcome adversity with a smile on their faces. These five and six-year-old students come from struggling households, but all of them try their hardest here at school. Combined we speak five different languages and we celebrate our diversity by learning new words to use around the classroom. School is a safe place for them, where they get good food and have lots of fun learning. Our school is a public school in a community with a high poverty and high turn-over rate.
