I am switching over my classroom to be a flexible seating classroom. Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive. Students in learning support will benefit tremendously from this environment. Flexible seating will allow them to choose to stand, sit in a comfy chair, move around while working or sit on the floor. All options are great for students that struggle with focusing at their desks. Many flexible seating options stimulate students’ sense of touch. This type of stimulation can help children focus and process information. Sensory input is especially helpful for students with ADHD, ADD, and ASD.
