My students are amazing...a true kaleidoscope of ethnicity's, ages, gender and abilities. They range in ages from 14-19 and often speak 2 languages: English, Spanish, Polish, Ukrainian, Ghanaian...and of course they are all learning the language of ART. This particular class is an elective, meaning they have all chosen to be here to continue to build on their previous artistic skill base. Some have amazing intuitive abilities, others struggle and need intense guidance. They are teenagers...joyful, pouty, intense, social, experimental, self-conscious, bold and shy...walking contradictions. They bring me something new every single day. They attend a medium sized General Education urban high school that has been consistently improving...and is currently on the cusp of true greatness. We do not choose our students...they choose us. We are not a selective enrollment school...we educate all the students that walk through our doors, many of whom which struggle economically.
