Helping students is my passion and it is so important that they acquire the essentials necessary to be successful, not only in the classroom, but outside as well.
Many of my students receive their only meal at school and sometimes their lunch is just not enough. It is important that I can provide them with snacks if need be. Without proper nutrition, their brains cannot function properly in the classroom.
It is also essential that my students have many books to read and books for me to deliver classroom guidance lessons to them. These books teach them essential social/emotional concepts and how to regulate and make sense of what they are feeling inside. I will provide monthly guidance lessons to all students under my care. Each month will focus on a different topic such as bullying, caring, manners, career exploration and test anxiety.
Communication with students and teachers is also necessary, so bulletin boards will be utilized throughout the school to communicate activities, awareness and highlight students monthly.
Lastly, cleaning supplies are a necessary part of a school counselors room! Many students eat lunch in my office and that can become quite messy. It is also important to keep surfaces clean during cold and flu season to avoid spreading germs among the students.
