Students will use magazines while reading independently and in small groups. The magazines such as Storyworks, SuperScience, and Scholastic News, will offer short engaging pieces in both fiction and non-fiction. Multiple copies of the magazine will allow us to read articles together. This will also allow us to cut apart the magazines for reading, writing, and word activities.
Students will experience reading in various formats and genres to grow as readers. They will read stories, information, biographies, poems, and and much more! The magazines chosen include pieces written by students which will motivate our class to submit their own writing pieces. They may also submit artwork and questions about things they read.
