Our school is a high poverty school where 78% of students receive free breakfast and lunch everyday. New or different art materials sparks their creative juices. Last year was my 16th year to teach, but my 1st year teaching K-5 Art (1,000 students). Can you say, "That is a lot markers." I want to expose my students to different art resources that they might not ever have a chance to use. I became close friends with the dollar store staff as most of these purchases came out of my own pocket. Seeing the spark in my students' eyes was priceless. I would love to provide my students with enough Sharpies, markers and color pencils to make the best and creative projects!
