We are a low-income school. We are an old, crumbling building. We are out of space. My room is a large closet off of our school's library. We do not have air conditioning. Our small room has no temperature regulation or safe airflow during COVID concerns and flu seasons, due to its lack of windows and ventilation. Our school is toward the bottom of an ever-growing list of schools in our district's 10-year plan to be renovated...but man do we have fun. Our teachers and school staff do everything in their power to make sure that our students come to school feeling safe, having fun, and learning something new everyday. Our staff has so much passion for our neighborhood. Unfortunately, educators still have to provide so much out of their own pockets, which I am happy to do if it means that my students get to come into my room and find something that motivates them to learn, sparks joy in their hearts, or even fills up their bellies. I am seeking assistance in covering the costs of some of our basic necessities, such as a fan, an air purifier, snacks, and school supplies. By having these basics covered going into the beginning of our school year, this means that I can continue to cover the cost of the extra, fun, exciting, and motivating things that I can bring to the table for my students!
