The books I have requested are not currently available in our Library, so they will likely be new to my students! The idea is to promote reading in the classroom and at home.
These books will appear at classroom doors as a surprise! They will be delivered one at a time to one classroom in each grade level in a bag labeled "You've Been Booked"! Classroom teachers will read the book aloud to their students and then pass it on to another class. Once the first group of books has been read by every type in the school, the books will be added to the Library collection, where students will be able to check them out and take them home to read! In my experience, students love to re-read books that their classroom teacher has already read to them.
nexllentThe selection of books I have chosen embrace diversity, empathy, and the social-emotional themes were are focusing on as a district through the Portrait of a Graduate. I am confident that the "special delivery" of the books to the classrooms will create a buzz about books throughout the school! These books would make an excellent addition to the Library collection I am building for the benefit of all my students.
