My students are of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and economic statuses. But one thing is for sure, learning through music is one of their favorite things. It encourages movement and gives them a fun way to remember concepts through a different medium. Kindergarten is so different now with the emphasis for higher academic achievement. These students often come with very little educational background and need different means of introducing and comprehending complex skills. Five-year-olds can only benefit from the learning that music encourages. Unfortunately, the music in the classroom is the only music some of these kids hear. Their excitement only increases with every exposure, in turn increasing their desire for learning.
