Reading is the foundation for everything beyond elementary school. I strive to pick out books that will spark my students' interest, enrich their learning, challenge their thinking, help with perspective-taking, and guide them to become independent, critical thinkers and learners.
I've chosen 5th grade engaging and imaginative books such as Harry Potter and Diary of a Wimpy Kid; to help my students discover their talents, potential, and confidence!
This will ensure that my students have books of different levels available to them. These books will primarily be available in our classroom library during reading centers and anytime they want to read after lessons and group/independent practice.
My classroom library is a comfy area that contains a rug where my students can either sit or lay which allows my students to enjoy great books that fuel their learning, imagination, and curiosity. I've been hearing all about alternative seating; therefore, wobble stools, yoga ball chairs, and a rolling stool would be beneficial. This will ensure that my students are able to work in an environment that is conducive to learning, where options and accommodations are offered consistently. I'm looking forward to seeing all of the new and exciting materials.
