My students are always up for challenging themselves. In the first semester of school, we learned a lot about drawing, drawing techniques, and painting using various media. We used pencils, colored pencils, oil pastels, charcoal, acrylic paint, watercolor, paintbrushes, etc. to complete two dimensional works. At the end of the semester I surveyed students to see what they were most interested in project wise for next semester, sculpture was the winner! This will totally give students a hands on experience with construction, modeling, carving, and assembling various objects in a 3D way. I also want students to work with new tools and materials that will help them problem solve and build confidence in their work while exposing them to a new genre of art. We’ve built so much in this class so far such as strong relationships, understanding of the arts and their functions, as well as each other. This will just be another way to skyrocket the students interests and investment in their work.
