In this new era where social media is shaping our young minds, I see children becoming more and more obsessed with other's perception of "beauty". Quite often, students feel pressure to do, be, or to look a certain way... in order to be consider "beautiful". In my class, photography is one of the most frequent topics of interest.
I want to help my students to focus on much more than just selfies, but instead on selfless acts of kindness that makes individuals feel special.
Having these three digital cameras, and learning how to use them, will encourage my students to make better decisions in their choice of pictures and how they affect the way we see one another.
With these cameras, my visual arts class will reach students who don't feel comfortable creating, but instead capturing and acknowledging that our school is great, not only in academics, but in spirit because we are there for one another cheering small and big accomplishments equally.
