This has been a stressful year. As students return to the classroom, I see their need to move at an all-time high. Whether they know it or not, their brains are trying to calm themselves while moving their bodies. With one less recess due to the pandemic, these kids need as much opportunity to move as possible. When their bodies are moving, their brains are regulated and ready to learn. Giving my students an option for flexible seating will help improve academics in all areas, but also their social and emotional health. Even as adults, we need to wiggle.
