More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education.
Iowa is known for it's amazing student knowledge, kids who are "home grown" and parents who are involved in their child's education. This is not always the case. The majority of my students come from one parent, low income families where reading and stories are not the main tasks for their day and technology is not a part of their life. My kiddos get to school each day as early as possible and want to stay as late as possible. The best parts of their day most times are story times. These times allow students to "enter into the story" and relax. They sit/lay calmly and just listen, laugh, and sometimes cry. Our school is filled with the most wonderful staff these little pumpkins could ask for! Each and everyone of us is committed to getting them what they need for learning and for life.
