I teach 28 2nd graders just outside of St. Louis. I have the most enthusiastic groups of students. Many face challenges in their young lives, that most would not in their entire lives, yet, they come to school with smiles on their faces and ready to learn.
We have an appetite for learning and challenging ourselves to do better. My class has read over 4,000 books just this year, and we still have 1 month of school to go. The kids get excited when their reading levels go up. They take so much pride in their accomplishments and fellow classmates.
Like most public schools, we are always short on funds. We really would like to get 6 Amazon Fire tablets. We do daily centers that require the use of QR codes. The kiddos are able to scan a QR code to a favorite story or phonics activity. I like to try to incorporate as much different technology into my classroom. It makes learning so much more fun!
