We are in need of iPads for our kindergarten through second grade science and engineering classroom. The use of technology in the classroom will help students dig deeper into their science concepts through the use of different science apps like First 8 Studios, Planet Earth, NASA, and many more. The Next Generation Science Standards asks our students to obtain, evaluate, and communicate information from multiple sources. Having iPads in the classroom will allow my younger students to accomplish this through the use of videos, images, science simulations, and the ability to research age-appropriate science articles.
The use of iPads in the classroom will also give students the opportunity to communicate their new understanding of different science phenomena!
I also plan to use the iPads as a way for students to creatively connect with their classmates and parents to share what they have learned in science and engineering class. Students can use the technology to create videos, a Prezi, use the Padlet application, or maybe even start our own STEM learning channel. When given the opportunity to create, the possibilities are endless.
