My students come from a variety of social economic groups and a wide diversity of cultures. Some students do not have computers or Internet access at their home. In order to bring history alive for them, I like to use secondary sources and there is nothing better than a great fiction book! Along with encouraging reading, the students will be able to tie together and compare historical facts with what they have read about in their social studies books. All children deserve to have great books to read as a class. With my funds at my school limited, I can not afford to purchase these books. My prior students have enjoyed the book "Tiger,Tiger" by Lynne Reid Banks, which I use with our ancient Rome unit!..Please help my students learn to love to read about historical fiction!!

About my class
