I have 8 students who range in disabilities from cognitive delays, Autism, and Down Syndrome, to more severe medical conditions. The majority of my students are non-verbal. The few who are verbal have difficulty socializing with others and expressing their wants and needs. My students rely heavily on visual supports such as picture icons to request for items/activities and use visual schedules to make sense of the world they live in. My school is a Title 1 school with many students receiving free/reduced lunch. Many of my students' parents have either asked if an iPad was available in school or shared how they wish they would be able to afford one for their child.
