We are focusing on building text to self and text to text relationships. As part of our post modernism units, we will look at social and identity issues in the world as we read this young adult novel.
This book will provide students with the opportunity to look through multiple lenses. Students will connect with themes in the novel that are heavily present in their life. By making this connection they will be able to see that they are not alone. They will also be able to see what other cultures experience on a daily basis with a text to text relationship. Students are going to be exposed to many different texts that will allow them to see through the eyes of different people, while learning it is okay for them to be different.
