My students are lower level, ELL, and some special education students who need more learning experience than just reading a text and talking about it. We are in a low-income neighborhood with most students with English as a second language. However, the school is known for their achievements, the numbers of AP classes held, and the successes of our graduates. My students have open minds, are excited to read new stories, and love the "detective duties" of a reader. Being a 9th grade teacher, I feel it is my duty to develop my students' minds and mold them into successful individuals. I want to give them the prosperous tools to use and excel with throughout the rest of their high school career, and hopefully into college.
