I teach in an urban school where around 95% of the students receive free or reduced priced lunch. Many students in my class do not have Internet access at home and some do not have computers. This means that their interactions with technology are limited to in-school usage. Being able to provide students with technology exposure within the classroom would afford them the opportunity to complete inquiry- and project-based activities in a setting that is more conducive to learning.
