My students have a passion for reading. They are in the early independent reading stages, so a listening center will help them with their fluency and sight words. My students will gain the reading confidence and independence they seek by using a listening center. A listening center would help them learn to read with expression and passion! The smiles you see on their faces when they read books on their own is amazing! They are so happy when they see their fluency improve each week and month. They are proud of what they have done so far. My students want to be independent. They strive to get a Lexile score over BR (Beginning Reader). They love sharing and giving book recommendations. This will help grow an early love of reading that will follow them throughout their lives. They will be taken on reading journies through castles, forests, real and imaginary worlds, history, and so on. Each child will learn about their own reading interests and style. I can see them visiting the library to find books like the ones they listened to in the classroom.
