Each year, I ask my students to participate in the Independent Reading Project, which gives them the opportunity to not only choose and discuss books that interest them, but also to increase their stamina for reading. I have been scouring Goodwill, the Friends of the Library book rooms, and used bookstores to gather books for this project, but my class needs your help in order to establish a truly amazing classroom library. All of the books from this list were recommended to me by my current students, or they are books that have provoked discussion and excitement among my former students. We do have an excellent library system in Sacramento, but many of the best books are constantly checked out, so having them available to my students in the classroom is essential to keeping those students engaged in reading and motivated throughout the school year. Thank you for your support, and look forward to discussing, and even reading, your students' books with them!

About my class
