My Project is focusing on teaching students how to measure the mass of objects. We are always solving word problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We would love to apply those operations to a tangible concept like weight. We will be learning how to find the weight of objects and be able to bring the math to life. With our bucket balances and our metric mass set we will be able to pull word problems from the paper and push them onto the desks. Students will be able to solve problems that could occur outside of school in their daily lives. Making the mathematical problems real and approachable is the key to internalizing student learning.
