Welcome to our 7th-grade math classroom—a supportive and engaging space where students are encouraged to think deeply, collaborate with others, and see themselves as capable mathematicians. Using an Open Up–inspired curriculum, we focus on rich tasks that invite curiosity and allow students to discover mathematical ideas through exploration and discussion.
Each lesson begins with a meaningful problem or real-world situation that encourages students to make sense of the math for themselves. Rather than memorizing steps, students compare strategies, build models, and talk through their reasoning. They work in pairs and small groups, learning to listen to each other, ask thoughtful questions, and explain their ideas clearly.
