In order for a student to be successful in any subject, they must first be able to read. Reading is fundamental to literally everything we do in life.
Can you imagine growing up in a home without books? Many of the children in my classroom have never read a book until they enter the classroom, and some come from homes in which, because of language or educational barriers, are not read to or exposed to print. Because of this, I would like to get as many genres and styles of books and texts into the hands of my students to not only seem them soar to success in school, but instill a love of reading so they can become lifelong readers and learners!
