Being organized to start Kindergarten is crucial and there's nothing easier than having a nice round rug for everyone to go to!We can practice the alphabet, getting to know one another and learning all about geometric shapes in a large group!
During a social competency lesson, we will sit around this new round rug and mock the start of a rain in the rain forest. Teacher begins patting her legs then the person next to her repeats and continues. It continues to go around the circle while everyone is doing the same but you can't start until your neighbor begins. Then teacher changes to a clap. Then stamping feet (pouring rain) then rubbing hands together(rain slowing down) then stop.
At each table, students will have their name plates. The beauty of these are that they can travel with the students throughout the day and not rip! Most K students need help spelling their first and last name. These name plates will also have the alphabet and numbers from 1-20 on them as well. For any anxious student, this takes needing to know any of that away!!And the name plate is something they use all year! So organization begins on day one with routines. These school supplies will help all of us immensely! Thank you!
