My students are from a 95% low income school in central Illinois. Their interest in reading and math is beginning to soar. When a student is involved in a book, their vocabulary comprehension and imagination soar in a positive direction. Vocabulary is a focal point in our school, and providing these students with books in a series gives them the opportunity to increase not only their vocabulary, but also their comprehension, engagement, writing and fluency. Providing students the opportunity to a hands-on mathematics classroom boots their confidence and encourages them to become problem solvers.
