Several of the materials I have selected are used with the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading to students with dyslexia. The Orton-Gillingham approach follows a specific sequence of introducing sounds and concepts. The Alphabet Series books follow this sequence and provide students with additional practice and application of the material I cover with my students. The classroom library set of chapter books offers a range of high-interest titles for students reading anywhere from a kindergarten to a third grade level. Again, students will be able to apply what they are learning during small group instruction using material that is of greater interest to them.
