Kids are eager to learn. Because my intervention students have intensive learning needs, that eagerness can sometimes be hindered by the academic challenges they face. Fortunately, I have seen how technology, high interest materials, and multisensory learning can motivate students and instill in them a love of learning. My students need the kind of learning experiences that will help them build their reading skills, self esteem, and a mindset that they are capable of learning. Seeing their pride when they make even the slightest progress motivates me to keep searching for those resources and supports that will help them achieve reading success.
