We are a small community with a large amount of low socio-economic students. The community does not always support the arts. My students range from motivated to extremely unmotivated. When they get into theater, many are undisciplined and irresponsible. I also have students who are terrified to get in front of people and even speak, much less sing and dance. After working with these students, we have built a relationship where the students trust me and I spend some time "counseling". Where we start is far from the final product. When they leave my program, many go on to act on their college stages and some aspire to be Broadway stars.
