My students enjoy tinkering and experimenting with the materials I have available to them. The pride that is shown on their faces as they discover how to build a circuit on their own, code a robot or create an optical illusion with paper is priceless. I would like to give my students more opportunities for them to be proud of their work.
I have seen my students develop engineering skills. Before they tended to destroy a project that didn't work. Now they focus on the specific sections that are not working which shows they are able to problem solve and understand how the parts work.
My students will use the marble mazes, gears, legos and planks to create more elaborate creations. This will also give them the opportunity to stretch their problem-solving skills.
