Autistic children often have difficulty focusing on their environment, and may even find new or stimulating environments stressful. This is particularly true for our young students in preschool and the primary grades, where classroom noise levels may be higher and the visual stimulation from bright (fun!) classroom decorations and toys are more common.
Weighted vests can allow an autistic child to be successful in school.
Giving the child proprioceptive feedback on where they are in space and applying deep pressure for comfort, the child will often be more receptive and ready to learn, and more able to cope with sensory challenges they may be experiencing.
