I'm an English/Spanish/AVID teacher and after school librarian in an inner-city Title 1 public high school. Over 85% of the students come from low-income families and lack cash to spend on books. For many of these students, reading is difficult because of learning disabilities. Over fifteen percent of our students are English language learners, dozens of whom visit the library almost daily.
In order to be successful in their academic and professional lives, my students need reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. My students love to talk and work together, so now they're submitting a book grant for a "literature circle" unit. Thanks so much for visiting our site and for your support of our young people!
Gratefully,
Mrs. Wright
