I teach 7th graders in both the regular and advanced English Language Arts classes at Edison Middle School. The students in my class come from diverse backgrounds, and many of them come from struggling households. (The student population at Edison is approximately 1, 100. Of those students, almost 61% receive free or reduced lunch, which is almost 20% higher than the average for schools in Wisconsin).
