Supplemental online and app based coursework on iPad for students is valuable in assisting teachers to more accurately measure student competencies in all subjects. Such coursework can then be modified to cater to the individual student's needs to improve performance in the associated subject areas. The use of these resources also encourages students to be more engaged in the coursework, as the delivered format is very similar to a game.
My students have limited access to such resources. While our school has a computer lab, it is only available for math and science coursework for thirty minutes per week. iPads would be used more regularly by the math and science department if made available. The iPads would help the students continue their math and science lessons through programs used at school. Programs used include STEMscopes and Imagine Math. These programs test our students and give teachers reports on where the students are struggling. These reports allow individualized help for each student. I want to be able to help my students reach their full academic potential.
