My students lack exposure to materials and experiences that provoke a curiosity and love of learning. Young children learn through play, exploration and repeated exposure to fun, safe materials! In turn, these things will help my students with delays to build their vocabulary and foster their communication skills.
A sensory table will allow me to present different tools and materials to my students to explore, experiment, and learn with! This will encourage my students to use their limited language to comment, ask questions, and interact with others. My students with more severe delays will be able to learn by watching their peers and with some support, will be able to try and imitate the way they interact with the materials.
