The arts are important!! About 360 students get to visit my art room each week. It is a place where we draw, color, paint, cut, glue, and decorate. It is also a place where we observe, think, discuss, analyze, practice and evaluate. There are so many benefits to having an education in the arts! My school is located in a high poverty area and most of my students receive free or reduced school lunch. There are many opportunities that many of my students are lacking, so I am grateful that they are able to have art class in our school. My students are smart, energetic and excited to learn so I am happy to find new types of learning experiences for them to enjoy.
