In my Junior High/ High School Multiple Disabilities classroom, my students work daily on a combination of academic, functional and vocational skills. My goal as their teacher is to use the time and tools I have to help my students become successful adults.
I believe that with individual desks, my students could learn the valued skills of ownership, organization and independence. As young adults, I want my students to know how they work best. I'd like to use the desks to teach them different types of organization. We'd also work on the importance of treating their things well and taking ownership of them. I'm constantly looking for new ways to help my students become the amazing adults I know they can be and I truly believe this would be a very helpful tool to meet that goal!
