My students are each unique, yet they reflect the growing rate of poverty that is very common in our country today. My school has a 97% poverty rate. They do not have the resources at home that many of us did growing up. They do not own computers, have library cards, own TVs to watch the news, and most don't have any adult to read with them at home. Most of my students have multiple families living together in 1 or 2 bedroom apartments. Basically, the only consistency and stability these kids have in there days come from school. I do everything I can for them while I have them for my 7 hours every day.
