As a dual language teacher, I know how impactful having an ample selection of English and Spanish titles can be for English Learners. Our goal is to build a well-organized classroom library. Our grade level was very fortunate to receive a donation of picture books and chapter books last year, and my students have been enjoying new selections, but we need help caring for our new classroom books.
These book bins will allow my students to maintain and take ownership of our classroom library.
My goal is to organize our books according to the theme, and language so that finding and returning books will be stress-free, mess-free, and carefree process. Our current set up makes it hard for students to pull books out and put them away. Many of our books are being damaged because of this. As of late, our "book hospital" has been overflowing!
Students will be in charge of making sure our library stays nice and neat by checking that books are put back in its rightful home. These baskets will also allow students to carry books around the room, so they are not waiting behind other students to select books during literacy rotations.
