In my Social Studies classroom, we prioritize critical thinking and perspective-taking in our quest to better understand the time periods, themes, and people we study. From primary source analysis to recreating historical artifacts to building desktop catapults to Socratic Seminars on "Immigrants (We Get The Job Done)" off the Hamilton Mixtape, my students engage with history, civics, geography, and economics in relevant, collaborative, creative, and thoughtful ways.
In my 7th grade G/T classes, we focus on extension and enrichment - from Dungeons and Dragons to the plays of William Shakespeare, my gifted and talented students learn how to work together to tell amazing stories and put themselves in roles that extend as far as their imaginations will take them.
