We live in the very diverse California. I believe that students should be able to learn and discover other cultures, and what better way than through the power of reading. I believe in the power of reading and I feel that many students lack the interest in books because the books being taught in schools are not interesting to them. My classes are very diverse and there is more boys in my classes than girls. With that being said, it is very hard to get boys engaged. I picked 3 titles that I know my male students will love to read. I already shared some excerpts with them and they have been constantly asking when we will read those books. I want my students to find the interest in books, just like I did when I was in high school. Being a young and new teacher is tough when there aren't enough resources. The school where I work is advancing towards technology, but I still feel like being able to physically pick up a book is important for students.
