The students in my AVID (Achievement Via Individual Determination) class are in the academic middle and desire to go to college. Many of my students will be the first in their family to graduate high school and attend college, and are motivated to work hard in order to achieve their dreams. Students need to apply, interview, and be accepted into the program. Once accepted students are placed into rigorous courses, Honors, Advanced Placement, and Dual Enrollment and receive support in the AVID elective. In the AVID elective students are taught study skills, note taking, time management, and organizational skills. We also conduct twice weekly tutorials with college tutors.
