Hi my name is McKel Gurney and I just started my first year as a teacher. I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was a little child and would love to play pretend classroom with my friends. Then once I started the program at the University of Utah I knew that teaching was for me.
Being a teacher is such a rewarding profession! I love being able to make a difference in my students lives. I love to watch my students grow and change throughout the year. There is nothing better then seeing a child's face light up because of something they learned.
I have worked in a Title 1 school for three years upon completing my degree in education. I will be teaching 5th grade at a Title 1 school. I love teaching at a Title 1 school because the students are so vulnerable and need a stable adult in their lives that they can look up to which is why I have been in a Title 1 school for so long.
