In my first year of teaching, I have learned more from my students than I learned in my four years in college. You learn so much when studying to become a teacher, but the real teaching takes place when a teacher meets a child who has nothing outside that classroom. Access to books, technology, being read to, guidance, new clothing, parental concern, food on the table... love. They don't know the meaning of these things because they have never been exposed to some or any of them at all.
My students are eager to experience and learn about the world around them through as many options as I can provide for them. At my school, teachers and administration do as much as we can with money provided to expose our students to new vessels of learning. Please help support our classroom to expose children to the world around them and provide new opportunities for growth and learning!
