Our students come to our class eager and ready to learn. They are exceptional learners and have different learning styles and needs that can be met by having sensory play and lighted surfaces in our classroom. Lighted surfaces are an incredibly useful tool to increase visual and spatial learning for students that cannot track or interact with regularly presented materials. Illuminating materials and sensory items offers our students more opportunities for visual discrimination and increase perceptual skills. Sensory kits give our students the added benefit of tactile learning, using their hands to build, create, and explore new concepts in fine motor and visual concepts.
The lighted table and sensory materials will give our students specialized educational experiences to meet their learning needs. Lighted sensory kits have the added bonus of serving our students in calm down strategies that can occasionally interrupt the learning process. Having these items in our classroom will increase their learning opportunities and offer additional supports for helping our exceptional learners to stay engaged and on task.
